25th International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence

June 17, 2016 The International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI) will kick off its 25th meeting in New York City with a keynote from Google Deep Mind researcher David Silver, who led the development of AlphaGo, the first program to beat a professional player at the game of Go. IJCAI is the world’s leading conference in the field of Artificial Intelligence.

The seven-day conference will run from July 9-15 and feature invited talks, panels and technical paper sessions. More than 1,000 AI researchers from universities, and public and private research labs, from fifty countries around the globe will participate. Topics to be discussed include new developments in machine learning, natural language understanding and robotics; AI applications in health care, urban design and other fields; and the ethics and dangers of an increasingly automated world. The conference will include AI competitions such as Angry Birds and other popular video games. This year’s theme is Human-Aware Artificial Intelligence.

IJCAI-16 Highlights:
• Seven invited talks and the presentation of 551 peer-reviewed papers as well as tutorials, workshops, demonstrations, competitions, industry day, awards and early career spotlight talks.
• A panel discussion of key takeaways from four national workshops organized this summer on “Preparing for the Future of AI” by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
• An AI Festival on July 15 that will be open to the public, featuring talks from this year’s IJCAI award winners: Barbara Grosz, Harvard University and Michael Jordan, University of California, Berkeley (Research Excellence Awards), Moshe Tennenholtz, Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (John McCarthy Award) and Percy Liang, Stanford University (Computers and Thought Award)
• An Industry Day, also on July 15, featuring talks by research lab leaders at Google, IBM Watson, Facebook, Sony, Samsung and other leading companies.
